The Eno Foundation is honored to support the National Park Foundation in administering the Transportation Scholars and Transportation Interpreters Programs. These initiatives are made possible by the Ford Motor Company Fund. Both programs offer rare opportunities to live and work in America's National Parks, and both have the ultimate objective of developing and promoting sustainable transportation solutions that facilitate the visitor experience while protecting treasured natural and cultural resources. National Park Foundation Transportation Scholars Program This initiative offers transportation professionals and students in transportation-related disciplines the chance to apply their skills to addressing specific transportation challenges in National Parks. Assignments last between 3 and 12 months. To learn more about the work of Transportation Scholars please click here.
This program places students and recent grads in National Parks for the summer to encourage visitors to use Park-provided "alternative transportation systems" rather than relying solely on private automobiles. Transportation Interpreters develop and deliver live communications to Park visitors that convey the benefits of the alternative systems (buses, trams, trains, ferries, and other mass-transit and/or alternative-fueled vehicles) available at their locations. In addition to conducting "on-board" interpretation, Interpreters may produce "static" communications to inform the public, such as brochures, videos and pod-casts. To learn more about
the Transportation Interpreters click here.
